☻He comes off as really chill and laid back but he’s actually REALLY obsessive about things going exactly how he wants him to—He doesn’t care if the other guy’s method gets you from point A to point B just as well as his own—or even faster—he’ll still get really angry. He’s a tightly wound, grudge-holding prick who knows how to sort of ease his own tension but that doesn’t change the fact that he still demands perfection; perfection being his own standards.
But yeah if you’re talking to him normally and don’t argue with him, he’s a friendly, pretty fun guy with a sort of penchant for gallows humor.
⋆ Uhh he’s not above telling a girl he loves her just to get in her pants. He had a few girlfriends and was even engaged once but he broke it off pretty quickly. He’s into DOING STUFF AGAINST WALLS and tends to like to talk/yell a lot during sex ohu

☼ THIRD YOUNGEST OF 8 BROTHERS DO THE MATH. He had to learn to be aggressive and fend for himself from an early age. There was a time when he was around 6 or 7 where a couple of his brothers tricked him into the Pyramids and got him lost. He hid shaking for a couple hours until he heard footsteps from other adventurers and ran shrieking and blubbering into them. He didn’t really have any stable guardians, they got passed around between parents and aunts and uncles and stuff, so his bonds ended up being with the same bros that tormented him. (to be fair they all tormented each other though) it’s sort of a mutual lovehate relationship.
☠ Moody drunk. If anyone disturbs him enough he starts getting really loud and sarcastic and shouting at them THINK BALE OUT
☾ Sleeps like a rock and is about as easy to wake up as one. He’s really self aware when he sleeps though so like even if he’s hard to shake awake if he feel s something weird around he’ll bolt up? it’s kind of paradoxical and hard to explain

☻ He’s laid back, kind of the passive, amused watcher to Koukai’s instigator. Like his bro, he’s pretty self-assured in what he’s doing. I think his emotions probably jump a lot less than Koukai’s (if Kai’s do at all akjdf), and he tends to show his displeasure kind of passive-aggressively, whether by holding off heals or “forgetting” to mag. OF COURSE HIS MOOD’S STABLE, HE’S THE TANK!
♤ He can cook pretty well, but usually eats everything himself cause I can’t imagine him liking cooking for other people. Since the Yunonean sect promotes self-discovery and self-improvement over abstinence from worldly pleasures, he’s never really felt guilty about trying new things and finding out how to cook well. He probably kind of did it alone for a while when Koukai wasn’t around.
He’s the guy that’ll cook a great marinated steak and russet potatoes for himself and then make mac and cheese for the other guy.
☮LOL IDEK WHERE HE AND KOUKAI LIVE WOW I guess this really is headcanon theater. While I picture them living and sleeping together as kids, somehow I can see them getting rooms ALL THE WAY ACROSS THE QUARTERS FROM EACH OTHER as adults.
☼ Stuck close to his brother, of course. He was the one who could stop Koukai from flipping out and doing something too stupid, and in return, Koukai could convince him to do stupid things with him. Koukai’s claiming seniority over him as being the first one out didn’t faze him (like most things), and he took it as an excuse to play into the role of the younger baby brother who didn’t know better.

☻ A LOT OF HIS EXCITABLE PERSONALITY IS REALLY AN ACT like he really is exciteable, yeah, and that even comes through a bit when he’s older but he definitely plays it up even more almost unconsciously? Kind of to compensate because like deep down he knows he actually sucks at what he does and got off on a fluke and yeah. When he’s older and is able to accept that it’s impossible to gain something without hard work, he decides to have more fun with it so he’s pretty lighthearted about it and kind of turns into a troll. When he’s younger he does more to try to hide his emotions and while they don’t completely come out when he’s older, he always lets on enough cause he knows gauging emotions is kind of necessary to communicate effectively. I GUESS HIS MOOD IS CHILL AND HAPPY.

In his little Alberta shop he’s got his own living quarters upstairs they’re a lot like his old Amatsu home with a bedroom and living room. The kitchen is small and on the first floor, in the back. YAYOI HOW DO YOU GET THAT MUCH SPACE IN ALBERTA oh yeah you kill people
☼ He was told he was good at stuff a lot in his childhood for the simple reason he WAS good at the stuff he was doing—he was a responsible kid and good at the whole theater tradition and WORKED HARD AT IT so his parents who usually would have been stricter kind of lightened up on him. I mean his grandma was mad at everything and often told him that A USELESS KID LIKE YOU IS GONNA BE EATEN REAL QUICK but haha he mostly ignored it. And when he did mess up he learned how to cover it up enough or play it off like COMPETENT ENOUGH so yeah
He really enjoyed living with his family but his extended family is pretty huge and they were ALL in Amatsu so he got kind of tired of it cause while he’s an only child he’s got zillions of aunts and uncles and cousins of all ages.
On that note he –almost- went into that old shrine in the Ama field but chickened out at the last minute heh
☾He was a bit of a finicky sleeper when he was really young like it’d take forever to get him to settle down enough to sleep. After training with Shikai he kind of developed the ability to get sleep wherever and whenever he could and got really good at like micronaps and catnaps and stuff. Once he finished training he makes sure to get 7-8 hours of good sleep per night every night though sometimes missions call for his old MICRONAPS ability to come back

♤ A little like everything else he does, Niko has to work hard to be good at cooking. His grades in school were actually good, but that took ages and ages of hard work and studying and cooking’s the same HE’S A GOOD STUDY BUT THE ONLY THING HE REALLY TAKES NATURALLY TO IS ACTING so he’d pore over recipes and meticulously prepare everything and it’d come out pretty good~ But he has to work hard at it
☮All the couches in his and lark’s home are entirely too low for him so he ends up with his knees like in his face

☾ Sleeps flat on his back with his arms folded on his stomach ALL THE TIME HE DOES NOT SLEEP ANY OTHER WAY he also hates having other people in his bed unless they just boned the only exception to this was a small period when Deja was really fussy about sleeping alone so he’d demand to sleep with his uncle and then he’d get super spoiled and demand that Niko come too BUT THAT’S THE ONLY TIME
It actually gave him trouble as a kid because he was a nervous kid and his mom’d be like COME HERE SLEEP WITH ME so he’d just…lie…in her arms…wide awake the whole night cause he couldn’t sleep
☻He can’t handle the deaths of loved ones at all, he basically has a breakdown and it’s the only time he just stops functioning. It took him nearly a year to start working again after their dad died. IDK his grief response is pretty terrible.
